Some Halloween Weekend Events

NE Wildlife Center, Weymouth: “Night of a Thousand Faces” from 4:30-8:30 on Friday night.  Hundreds of jack o lanterns line nature trails.  $7/adults, $5/kids.

Wareham Crossing, Wareham:  Best Buy is having face painting, costume contest from 11-3 on Saturday.  The stores will also have trick or treating throughout the day on Sunday.  Friendly’s Express is also giving a free kids meal with an adult entrĂ©e on Sunday.

Borders Stores:  Halloween Spooktacular at 11 am on Saturday.  Scary stories, games, craft and parade.  See website for participating stores.

Independence Mall, Kingston:  Mall-wide trick or treating from 3-5pm on Sunday and a costume contest at 4:45 in Center Court.

Hanover Mall, Hanover:  More mall wide trick or treating from 3-5pm on Sunday.  Stop by Uno’s in your costume and kids get a free make your own pizza (see restaurant for details).

Silver City Galleria, Taunton:  Visit on Saturday from 6-8pm  and children 12 and under can trick or treat at stores displaying an orange poster.  Kids can also enter a coloring contest in the center court.  Costumed kids will get a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes.  (No Masks Allowed)

Carousel, Fall River:  Family Halloween Party at the Fall River Carousel.  For kids 12 and under.  Costume contest, candy hunts, ghost stories, crafts, face painting and more.  $10 per person.  Reservations Required.  Saturday, 3-5pm.

Halloween Day Event, Hanover:  West Hanover Crossing will have halloween fun…face painting, photos, games, crafts and more.  Sunday, 1-4pm.  1415 Hanover Street (Rt. 139).  All proceeds will benefit Hanover PTA.

Paragon Carousel, Hull:  “Haunted” Carousel, 12-3 on Sunday. Fun, prizes and ice cream!

Halloween Family Festival, Everwood Day Camp, Sharon:  Meet Wally the Green Monster, pumpkin painting, hayrides, facepainting, moonwalks and much more!  Free!  Noon –2pm, Sunday.

Zoo Howl, Franklin Park Zoo:  Saturday & Sunday 11-3pm.  Crafts, games, trick or treating and a haunted maze.  Hayrides available too!

Halloween Howl, South Shore Natural Science Center, Norwell:  5-7:30pm on Saturday.  Crafts, activities, pumpkin decorating and a wildlife presentation.  $10 for non members, $8 for members.  Includes a walk through Spooky Woods too.

Unscary Halloween Party, Soule Homestead, Middleboro:  Hayride, games, story, costume parade.  4-6pm Saturday (rain date Sunday).  $5 for members, $7/nonmembers.  Must preregister.

April Zoo Events: Stone Zoo & Franklin Park Zoo

Hop on down the bunny trail to Stone Zoo where an Easter celebration awaits! Activities include holiday games, crafts and seed planting. Be sure to visit with our special guest, the Easter Bunny, who will be ready to smile for photographs.

Conservation Week

Spice up your Spring Break by visiting the Zoos during April school vacation week. Each day will offer a variety of engaging and educational activities for kids of all ages, as well as many helpful hints for preserving our planet.

Come celebrate Earth Day with crafts, activities, animal encounters and environmentally-friendly exhibitors at Franklin Park Zoo! Did you know Zoo New England supports conservation efforts both locally and abroad? Throughout the day, we will celebrate the great diversity in the animal kingdom with all of the incredible animals that call our Zoos home. Discover all the different ways that you can have fun while helping our planet.

Zoo News for March

Leap into Spring!

March 8

Stone Zoo & Franklin Park Zoo

Year of the Frog may be over, but the amphibian crisis is not. Turn your clock ahead and come learn how you can be a friend to frogs through fun games and activities. At Franklin Park Zoo, celebrate our amphibian friends, as well as the start of spring, with some froggy fun in a special education program! The Leap into Spring program will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. for children ages 3 to 4, and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. for children ages 8 to 10. The additional cost for this event is $8 for members and $10 for non-members (cost includes adult/child pair for the early class). To register, call 617-989-3742. At Stone Zoo, stop by the Animal Discovery Center between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to learn about amphibians. There is no cost for the Stone Zoo program.


Sing-a-Longs with Su Eaton!

Escape the winter chill and bring your little ones down to the always-balmy Tropical Forest for family entertainment provided by our professional children’s entertainer during our Saturday Sing-a-Longs! Wildly popular children’s entertainer, Su Eaton, will perform every Saturday in March. These events will be held in the Hippo Theater at Franklin Park Zoo and are free with general Zoo admission. Saturday Sing-a-Longs will be held March 7, 14, 21 and 28. This event is free with general admission.

Franklin Park Zoo Events

Here's a few events for Franklin Park Zoo for the next few months! All events are FREE with paid admission. Admission is $12/adult, $7/child ages 2-12. Children under 2 are FREE.

Sing-a-Longs with Su Eaton!
Every Saturday in January and March, 11:00 a.m. – Noon
Franklin Park Zoo, Boston

Wildly popular children’s entertainer, Su Eaton, will perform every Saturday in January and March. Saturday Sing-a-Longs will be held January 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 and March 7, 14, 21 and 28.


Go Ape during School Vacation Week!
February 16 – 20, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Franklin Park Zoo, Boston

Set off on a tropical excursion during February school vacation week and bring your family to Franklin Park Zoo for an ape-themed getaway! Learn about these incredible animals by visiting our gorilla troop at the Tropical Forest. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of creative and educational ape-related activities. Plus...Little Joe turns 16, so Franklin Park Zoo will celebrate his birthday all week! Activities include:

  • First 25 visitors per day receive a special gift
  • Sign a large birthday card for Little Joe
  • Enjoy gorilla-shaped birthday cake (on Monday, February 16)
  • Opportunity to participate in a variety of creative and educational ape-related activities
  • And, many other surprises throughout the week!
