Halloween Candy Buy Back!

Came across this today on the Old Colony Memorial site.  Great idea!!

Dr. Kerr and Dr. Lutz Family Dentistry will be buying back candy from local trick-or-treaters for a Halloween candy buy-back event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at both their Plymouth offices, 233 Water St. and 3 Market Crossing in The Pinehills. In partnership with the Nathan Hale Foundation and the local VFW, candy collected will be sent to troops overseas in their holiday boxes. Kerr and Lutz will be paying $1 per pound to children who want to “give it up” for a good cause. Children will also have the opportunity to write a special holiday message to the soldiers to be included with the candy. Candy must be wrapped and unopened. All trick-or-treaters are welcome to give their piggy banks a “boo”st and reach out to troops who will be away from home this holiday season.

A great way to get rid of all that candy and a great cause to be involved in!

Not Simply Beads

IMG_1651 My daughter and I signed up for a “scrabble tile pendant” class at Not Simply Beads at Village Landing Marketplace in Plymouth last Thursday night. We had so much fun! We both learned how to make scrabble tile pendants (so cute!) and had some nice mom/daughter time. Not Simply Beads has a ton of classes from necklaces to bracelets to painting and more! You can see their schedule online here. They even do birthday parties…lots of fun for a preteen girl party. (and moms…their classes would make a great girls nite out too!) Check them out next time you’re in Plymouth!

Classes at Jordan Hospital

Came across a class I’m going to have my 10 year old son take called Home Alone and Staying Safe.  They have it once a month on a Saturday.  My son is rarely home alone but I thought this would be really good for him to have under his belt.  It’s for kids in 4th and 5th grade and is 3 hours long.  They learn about safety, first aid and preventing emergencies as well as basic self defense.  Cost is $40.

They also have a Babysitter Safety Course for kids aged 11 1/2 and up to teach new & seasoned babysitters about safety, child care skills, first aid and how to handle emergencies.  This class is 4 hours long and also costs $40.

Great classes for us moms with older kids!

Cruise + Ice Cream = FUN!

IMG_1225 Once again, we did the ice cream cruise out of Plymouth harbor and  had a ton of fun!  We had GREAT weather last night!  Once the boat leaves dock, they start the make your own sundae bar (and there’s usually enough for seconds!)  Chocolate or vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and the toppings of your choice!  After the sundaes are done, it’s time to boogie down!  The kids do the limbo and then can dance, dance, dance.   It’s a great time to get pretty family pictures or kids pictures while the sun is setting too!

IMG_1286 The ice cream cruise is a “must do” during the summer!  Lobster Tales runs the cruises during the summer on Wednesday and Friday in July & August 7-8:30pm.  (Or you can do what we did and charter the boat for 50 of your closest friends)  Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for kids under 12.  It’s best to make reservations…give them a call at 508-746-5342. Check out their website for more info about the ice cream

cruise or the other cruises they run like the Pirate Cruise or the Wine tasting Cruise.  You can also find them on facebook.
