Fashion Focus Classes

My daughter just started her second semester at Maria Wood’s Fashion Focus in Pembroke.  She LOVES it!  It’s such a girly class where they learn things like hair & skin care, fitness, personal grooming, manners etc.  They end each class doing runway walks and poses.  The end of each semester they have a Fashion Show as well.  My daughter is so excited to go to class every week.  Great for building the girls self esteem!  There’s still time to enroll if your little girl is interested.  Check out the website or facebook page.

You can also join Fashion Focus at the Kingston Mall on Thursday 2/19 from 12-2 for free hair & nails or at Colony Place on 2/19 from 11-1 for a mini day of beauty.

The sidewalks will be lined with white paper luminaries, and visitors are welcome to attend. The event will include a tree lighting on the Town Green, caroling, hayrides and several open houses at nearby churches.

The Fire Department will open the Surprise Hose House to the public. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. children will be able to make holiday crafts and sing holiday songs at the Kingston Public Library while their parents enjoy hot cider and doughnuts.

Several area churches will open their doors, including First Parish, Mayflower Congregational, and Kingston Baptist Church. First Parish will host activities in the Beal House. Restrooms will also be available in the Beal House.

The popular hayrides, coming back this year after a year off, will begin at 6 p.m.

The tree-lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

Green Street will close to traffic at 5 p.m. Visitors may park at Coughlin & Coughlin on Elm Street, 3 Corners Restaurant on Main Street, the Highway Department on Evergreen Street, the Reed Community Building on Summer Street, or the Frederic C. Adams Public Library also on Summer Street.

Storytimes

I haven't been to the local storytime at my library in a long time! Now that my 5 and 8 year olds are in school, I think it's time to take my 2 year old to the libary for it. He loves me to read to him so I think he'll like it. Here's a listing of local library storytimes & events:

Carver Library
Halifax Library
Pembroke Library
Plympton Library
Hanson Library
Kingston Library
Plymouth Library

The storytimes are held on lots of different days so you could hit them all in a week if you're looking for things to do with the little ones!

Gray's Beach

Anne finds another cool place! Friday we went to Gray's Beach in Kingston. What a great place to take the kids!

First...they have a nice fenced in playground. All the equipment is pretty new, there's benches and tables with umbrellas to sit at as well. It's pretty big and the kids can totally run around and you know they can't escape. Just the playground alone is a nice trip.
The park is also part beach. There's a nice little beach where the kids can go swim or play. The 2 eight year olds with us were gone practically the whole 4 hours we were there finding crabs, snails and shells. The tide was low when we got there and it was almost at high tide when we left. High tide is the best for swimming since it's pretty muddy near the water during low tide. And if the beach and playground don't sway you to visit, bring your kites and have the kids run all over the place on the huge grassy field there. If you go during the summer, the "Beach Hut" snack shack is open. Prices are pretty reasonable. We brought our lunches but bought the kids ice creams after they ate. Oh and Anne got the Onion Rings and there were oh-so-yummy!Gray's Beach is just off Route 3A in Kingston. A nice way to spend a few hours!

Free Movies all summer long!

The movie theater at the Independence Mall in Kingston is running the Free Family Film Festival for the summer. Each Tuesday and Wednesday at 10am they show 2 movies for FREE...one is rated G and the other PG. Good deal! I took the kids the past 2 weeks and they loved it. Even my 2 year old sat through the whole movie! I bought popcorn but brought in some juice boxes for the kids. For a theater filled with kids, it was pretty quiet throughout the whole movie too! Check it out!
