Art on the Spot in Middleboro has their summer art program up on their website. My daughter loves to draw so I’m going to sign her up for at least one of them! They have night classes that meet once a week for 6 weeks and also summer camp type programs that run weekly from 9-12:30, Monday through Friday. Most classes are for ages 7 and up. I scream, you scream….
So glad that Ericksons here in Carver is finally open! That’s our usual go to spot for ice cream. Love the Coffee Kahlua Brownie ice cream! YUM!
Eastover Farm in Rochester is another cool place to take the kids….it’s a small farm stand. The kids can check out the animals and I think they do wagon rides on the weekends. They are opening this weekend!
Mea’s in Halifax is another great place to go for soft serve…though I’m pretty sure they have hard ice cream too! They have yummy Flurry Cups.
Can’t forget our local Peaceful Meadows or Dairy Queen either!
Another great thing to do with the kids is take an ice cream cruise around Plymouth Harbor! We get a group together and charter the boat every July. The kids have so much fun! Definitely a summer to do!
Where are your local favorite ice cream places…and why do you go there?

Geocaching
We are active letterboxers so we’re looking forward to one day trying out Geocaching, which is letterboxing’s high tech cousin. I saw that Family Circle magazine had a great article on Geocaching and thought I’d share it…would be a great summer hobby! You can read the article online here.
If your family does geocaching, let me know and share some tips!

Hanson Children’s Museum
Thanks to Kerry for forwarding this to me:
A new children’s museum is scheduled to open in Hanson this Fall! The Hanson Children’s Museum will be a hands on history museum. There will be 17 exhibits designed to inspire children’s interest in American history! Kids can play and interact with Abe Lincoln on our Mt. Rushmore Climb, or hop into a roadster from the 50's in our Fabulous 50’s Fantastic Rides exhibit! We will strive to connect Americans to their history by using play and family involvement.
The Hanson Children’s Museum will be offering many great services to be enjoyed by the community. Area schools can plan field trips to the museum, which will include grade level curriculum based lessons that teachers can continue in their classrooms! We will also have kid’s workshops to be held on ½ days and school vacations! Birthday Parties, Family & Kids Nights Out and Educator Workshops are just a few more of the exciting things planned at the museum!
Please check out our website for more information and upcoming events. And you can follow us on facebook for the latest news on the museums progress! We look forward to seeing you and your children at the museum!
